Roche gets FDA OK for improved HIV test

Swiss drugs and diagnostics group Roche Holding AG said on Friday the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had cleared an improved test to measure virus levels in the blood of HIV/AIDS patients. Roche's automated Cobas Amplicor HIV-1 Monitor Test version 1.5 is designed to amplify and detect genetic material, allowing for accurate measurement of even small amounts of virus.
